Pseudonymisation service for traffic research
for a large Dutch municipality
A large Dutch municipality makes use of our pseudonymisation service for its traffic research. In this research, data from various sources (permit registrations, cameras and scan cars for parking enforcement) which has been pseudonymised via our service is sent through to the analysing party. The distinct advantage of pseudonymisation in this research is that while the data obtained through various sources can be combined, the number plates are not apparent, thus safeguarding the privacy of the drivers.
In one of the very first neighbourhoods in which research was conducted in 2015, it turned out that 67% of the vehicle traffic was not local traffic. As a result, the municipality converted certain streets into one-way thoroughfares. In addition, the municipality was extremely satisfied with the approach and the way the privacy of the local residents was handled. In the meantime, the research has been rolled out into more neighbourhoods in that municipality.
